Billy the Cat
This is a painting that pays homage to the remarkable cat who graced the halls of my home for an impressive 17 years. He was quite a cat! I called him "the Senator" because he was all white, and kind of stately, commanding but yet in a quiet way, and he took care of the other cats in the house. His name was Billy Bob Thornton, we just called him Billy for short. My wife found him one morning laying on the floor in the house. He was dead. We don't know what happened. My wife was so much devastated that as a tribute to this cat, I decided to paint him and have the image of him in our house so we could see him the way he was — elegant, with a serene gaze and a composed demeanor, exuding an air of regal authority. This painting encapsulates the bittersweet emotions of loss and tribute, capturing the essence of our beloved animal, whose presence enriched our lives for so many years. It stands as a testament to the power of love, companionship, and the profound bonds forged between humans and their cherished animal companions.
